Kirk Nilsen is an internationally recognized tattoo artist, contemporary artist, and musician whose work has helped shape modern tattoo culture. Originally known as a pioneer of geometric / ornamental tattooing in New England nearly two decades ago, he is now most widely recognized as one of the first artists in America to pioneer large-scale baroque,medieval, gothic, and architectural tattooing — a style that has since become massively influential throughout the tattoo industry worldwide. Today, he is best known for his signature blend of medieval, cathedral-inspired, ornamental, and engraving-based tattoo work.
Blending medieval, gothic, baroque, architectural, engraving,etching, woodcut, victorian frame-work, filigree, sacred geometry, Celtic, Nordic, Portuguese and Spanish influences into one unmistakable style, his work has become instantly recognizable for its precision, atmosphere, and detail.
Kirk has tattooed across the world including New York City, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Berlin, Venice Italy, Copenhagen, Paris, Milan, Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, Austin, San Francisco, and countless others — building a reputation for highly detailed, large-scale custom tattoo work with clean linework and timeless design.
